Monte Carlo computation of pair correlations in excited nuclei.

چکیده
We present a novel quantum Monte Carlo method based on a path integral in Fock space, which allows the computation of finite-temperature properties of a many-body nuclear system with a monopole pairing interaction in the canonical ensemble. It enables an exact calculation of the thermodynamic variables such as the internal energy, the entropy, or the specific heat, from the measured moments of the number of hops in a path of nuclear configurations. Monte Carlo calculations for a single-shell sh11y2d model are consistent with an exact calculation from the many-body spectrum in the seniority model.

Simple correlated wave functions for the ground and some excited states of sd shell nuclei
Trial wave functions including angular momentum projection and deformation with central Jastrow and linear-type correlations are calculated to study the ground state rotational band of the Ne, Mg, Si, S, and Ar nuclei and the ground state of Ca. A systematic analysis of the competition among different correlation mechanisms on the binding energy and other properties such as the root mean square...

This paper investigates Monte Carlo techniques for construction of compact wavefunctions for the internal atomic motion of the D 3 O + ion. The polarization force field models of Stillinger, et al. and of Ojamae, et al. were used. Initial pair product wavefunctions were obtained from the asymptotic high temperature many-body density matrix after contraction to atom pairs using Metropolis Monte ...

We perform Shell Model Monte Carlo calculations to study pair correlations in the ground states of N = Z nuclei with masses A = 48 − 60. We find that T = 1, J π = 0 + proton-neutron correlations play an important, and even dominant role, in the ground states of odd-odd N = Z nuclei, in agreement with experiment. By studying pairing in the ground states of 52−58 Fe, we observe that the isovector...
